Our Vision & Values
Our Vision:
Village Church of East Atlanta will seek to be a church for our neighborhood. As such our primary desire is to live the gospel in the place we call home.
Our Values:
- The Gospel - We believe that only the gospel is the power of God for salvation and that the story of redemption recorded in the Christian Scriptures is truly good news for all who are broken and in need of healing.
- Community - We will seek to be who we are, God’s people--a community which seeks to live together in obedience to the Lord, loving our God and neighbor.
- Neighborhood - We will seek to love and serve a geographical location in order to better steward our gifts and resources in order to counteract the cultural gravity of self-centeredness, classism, racism, and consumerism.
- Justice - We will seek to work for the restoration and renewal (putting to rights) of everything that has been broken and twisted in our world and community. This includes broken relationships, fragmented identities, systematic oppression and on and on.
- Imitation of Christ - Jesus lived the life we cannot live, but also commanded us to follow his example of self-sacrifice, obedience, servanthood, and love by the power of the Spirit as a means of proclaiming the gospel (John 13:15; 1 Peter 2:21; 1 Cor 11:1).
